The scientific method is as follows:
- Ask a question
- Form a hypothesis
- Test the hypothesis
- Analyze the results
- Draw a conclusion
- Communicate results
Critical thinking involves analyzing facts with rationales, backed by evidence and without bias. By following the scientific method, one can critically think through a scenario or problem by first asking why such a thing is the way it is. Then, the thinker can rationally figure out a hypothesis (educated guess) as to why it is that way. Then, the thinker will test that educated guess by collecting data or evidence to prove (or disprove) the hypothesis. By analyzing the results without bias, the critical thinker can see whether or not their hypothesis tested true. Then the critical thinker can draw up a conclusion.
Hope that helps!
