What are better adjectives for the word "great" that I can incorporate into both former papers and my daily speech?

The word great is an adjective that has two functions. It can either mean above average in intensity, amount or extent. Great can also mean above average in ability or quality. Here are some alternative words for great that are versatile for professional correspondence, academic essays, or to enhance daily speech.


Massive

  1. Her father lived in a massive house.

Colossal

  1. The skyscrapers in New York City are colossal! I’ve never seen buildings so stupendous!

Exceptional 

  1. His ability to paint was truly exceptional. There is no one like Pablo Picasso!

Stupendous

  1. The sculptured man had an utterly immaculate, stupendous build. 

Distinguished
