How can students, or families of students obtain potential Wyzant tutors sooner, for their topic?
I frequently see this question online, in various places within online groups, social media, etc., or hear this question, in person. Some prospective students say that they had been waiting for responses. Considering the number of tutors available--I'm surprised.

Early Childhood Teacher Credentials to teach Elementary/Special Needs
Things that you as a parent can look at are if they have Instant booking on their profile. Instant booking will make the booking process smoother. I also recommend that parents read through the profile of tutors they are most interested in. In the search you can use the filter to narrow down what you are looking for. I do agree with above thinking about Online Tutoring especially since In-person is not always an option everywhere and there may be very few tutors in your area. I would also recommend setting a budget of how much you are willing to spend or getting a package deal with a tutor, because it does get expensive.

Reading, Writing, ESL, and Study Skills Tutor for All Ages
Hi! I'm Shirley. There are many Wyzant Tutors available for Online and In-Person services. People searching on Wyzant will also notice an array of tutors who cover topics even beyond the typical academic expectations of a tutoring platform. Students can even learn or finesse various hobbies! If someone wants to learn or brush up on their second language skills, or need help preparing for an exam, related to their desired occupation, there will probably be a tutor for you!
So why are there students still searching for the "right fit" or may not see their specific needs? Or, why is it taking time for a follow-up?
Being specific and providing general information about who you, the Student are, or description of someone else, and your tutoring needs helps. What do you need? Pricing--Do you have a budget range in mind? Timetable--Long-term for the month/year? Or, for a Special Project or Test? Feedback on a presentation? Do you need a Bi or Multi-Lingual tutor, or do you have someone who can help support you, while learning English or a different Language? Are you working on your accent, for a specific language, or need business terminology?
If there is student who may have ADHD, etc., and you have put in a request, are you still waiting, or looking for something more specific? You may find that asking for a Reading Tutor, and adding that your student has ADHD, could possibly speed up response choices and narrow your search efforts, instead of just asking for an ADHD Tutor. The same could be true for Study Skills Tutor Requests. If being specific, or requesting the broader topic of Study Skills can produce different results for viewing more Wyzant Tutors--Try it!
Has your payment information, etc. been finalized, or in the process? That's helpful, too. Wyzant Representatives are very helpful and can offer friendly, professional advice. Have you considered Online Tutoring? It could provide you with more choices and time-saving on commutes, using a laptop or desktop computer, or some tablets/touch-enabled devices. Chrome or Firefox works well. I also have had success with Edge. Or, In-Person Tutoring, in a public place may be your preference.
Hopefully these tips mentioned above will be helpful for searching and finding the Wyzant Tutor for your learning needs.

Hi! There are many reasons why you may not be hearing back from tutors. One may be that you're requesting rates that are $25 or under. Tutors are more likely to respond to requests that are at least $30, and even then, there may not be very many responses. Wyzant takes 25% of the session cost, so tutors are inclined to look for opportunities where they can be paid higher rates than they might be used to in order to balance things out. Another reason may be because your job posting descriptions are too vague. There are scam profiles on this website, as well as profiles of students who are trying to get the tutors to help them cheat. To be safe, some tutors might be suspicious of those profiles and avoid them, even if they belong to well-intentioned people who are just looking for help. Lastly, tutors are inclined to work with long-term clients over short-term ones, as this provides more stability. If a tutor knows from your job posting that you only want to work with them for one or two sessions, they may prioritize someone else who is looking for a long-term tutor. Being specific in your needs and setting a higher price will help you receive more responses! You and your tutor can negotiate costs afterwards too. Best of luck!03/30/25
