Hi Kai,
Social Media has improved human Education for several reasons.
- Connectivity
- Social media allows people to connect directly with agencies, organizations, and experts that specialize in the field they are interested in. (Ex. people can follow National Geographic to learn about animals, NASA to learn about Astronomical discoveries, etc.)
- Social Media provides the ability for newsworthy events and discoveries to be announced and shown on social media before any actual reporting by news sources occurs. This means that people can learn about events that are happening on the other side of the world almost instantaneously, from first-hand observers.
- Accessibility
- Social Media platforms are easily accessible to anyone, by anyone. Unlike many private schools or political platforms, there is no need to pay for a social media service (not in the traditional sense at least) in order to access the information it provides
- It is an international phenomenon that allows those of differing perspectives to communicate, and exchange ideas, thoughts, and perspectives. Learning about the language and culture of others is a fundamental source of education, much like writing to "pen-pals" back in the day.
- Increasing Day-To-Day Relevance and Political Use
- Social media platforms are being increasingly used for political purposes. Given that so many government officials are involved in Social media platforms, such as twitter, for example, it is inevitable that any announcements, discussions, or debates that take place over social media platforms can provide insights into the types of discussions taking place on Capitol Hill. Social media sheds light on the issues being discussed and affords the public more participation than before in the political sphere.
- Any political courses being offered can learn a tremendous amount about the modern political sphere by observing the activity of political figures on social media. That doesn't mean that social media is the exclusive source of such insights, but it does provide a considerable amount of detail into the mindsets of those making potentially landmark decisions in the highest seats of government, that is useful knowledge.
I think if you hit these major points, you'll do fine. Good luck !
