Learning together to make science fun!
Hi Karim,
I am going to give you clues to answer the question, as a guide. I usually tell my students that introns stay in the nucleus and exons leave. Exons will stay together and exit the nucleus. There are 2 additional things that need to be done to the pre-mRNA molecule, so it is ready to go and can leave the nucleus. If you review your textbook, this is called post-transcriptional modifications.
pre-mRNA in a sense needs a makeover; t is like someone putting on makeup, styling their hair before leaving the house. The house is the nucleus, and the outside world is the cytoplasm. pre-mRNA needs to get a makeover also.
If I were to reword the question for clarity it would look like this: Below you see a sequence of pre-mRNA. 1) Please remove what is no longer needed in the pre-mRNA, 2) add the two things are needed to have a mature RNA (mRNA, also known as messenger RNA) be allowed to leave the nucleus.
I hope this helps you if you still needed the help.
