Is there a hack to bring out your "true" voice?

I've just approved my typeset manuscript and re-reading the book, I'm aware that it sounds very far away from my internal voice. Whilst it has all of the elements in practice, the colour and fluency feel strained. Is there a practice or hack that anyone uses to help bring the final product closer to the original dream?

Have you considered drafting your own style guide? Often, tone can change over the course of written work because the author writes while experiencing different moods over the course of time, writing different times of day, or whatever other change in circumstances. The purpose of a style guide in any work of writing is to maintain consistency by giving the writer something to reference. Until you can pin down what you understand what your internal "true" voice to be, you will not be able to evaluate your work against it beyond a binary and arbitrary judgment. Does this occur as you write, or does it look right at first only for you to come back a few days later and judge it differently?
