What is your approach to tutoring?

Gaurika T.

I often approach tutoring from another angle than most--as a peer. It's only been 5 years since I was in highschool academics, and I have been actively tutoring 1st-12th grade material since that time, so I am very in touch with the way students are learning today, as well as what tactics and strategies stick. I've had a lot of success connecting with students one on one because they think of me more as an older role model student rather than an intimidating adult. Because of this, kids are more open and transparent about making mistakes, which makes the road to acknowledging where the student is going wrong and fixing small errors so much faster and easier. Along with being a focused instructor, I think it's also important to approach each kid individually with a level of friendship and understanding.
