In an analogy, the important thing to remember is the relationship between the first pair of items. Then look at the third item and find a word that has the same relationship to complete that pair. For example, if the first pair of items are opposites, then the second pair must also be opposites.
In the first example, think about the relationship between light and electricity. Electricity is the power source for light. The next item in the analogy is car. So ask "What is the power source for car?" Gasoline would be the correct answer. Therefore, the analogy would be "Light is to electricity as Car is to gasoline."
Also, make sure you get the order of the relationship correct. "Light is to electricity as gasoline is to car" would be incorrect because car is not the power source of gasoline.
