Why is the Telegraph so important & how does it relate to us?
Had it not been for the humble beginning of the telegraph perhaps today's society would not be SO mesmerized by Social Media?
Civilizations had been beating drums, fanning fires sending smoke signals, and racing madly on horseback across rough terrain through brutal weather to carry messages.
When the telegraph was invented it was a major boom for long-distance communication.
It was a simpler, quicker way to send and receive information.
Now instantaneous communication could be expressed across vast distances in a split second.
Voila! "What hath God wrought"! and the the historic first message spread across the world lickety-split.
The groundwork for future communication innovations had been laid down.
In fact, many of the principles of the telegraph still influence methods of communication today.
The telegraph maintains an enduring impact in the development, the purpose, the success, and the professionalism of mass communication.
