I am having trouble figuring out what "The island is not situated at a point of great natural food abundance, especially relative to other locations very close by" mean, and on my assignment, these are the options There is food but it is hard to find, there is no food close by, There is not much food on the island, and There is a lot of food on the island.

"Abundance" basically means "a lot of" something. Therefore, if there is "great natural food abundance", then this means that there is a lot of food on the island, and it should be relatively easy to find. However, your sentence states that the island is not at a point of "great natural food abundance".

Hi Isabella - Wyzant's Terms of Service prohibit tutors from taking tests for students or giving them the answers to test questions, which this sounds like it is.

However, I believe you can easily determine the appropriate answer from the multiple choices available if you read the possible answers one by one and read back the prompt after each one. Eliminate those answers that clearly conflict with the prompt. When you have only 2 possibilities left, ask yourself which one most closely conforms to the prompt. I know you can do this!
