Dear Lema,

This sounds like an interesting assignment, and one that asks you to state a claim or thesis and then support your thesis with evidence, information, facts and historic precedent.

First you would think about and write out your claim... what do you think should be America's role in fighting the Coronavirus? Why do you believe that? Is there a historic precedent that supports your claim? Is America on its way to fulfilling this role at this point? what would it take to do that?

Look at past pandemics that America has had to deal with, and what we did to prevent (or not) their spread: SARS, Ebola Virus, Spanish Flu of 1918. Look at what various leaders - federal, state and local city leaders have said about what our role should be. Do they agree on a role? How effective have their efforts been?
