📊 How do you assess and track student progress?
I use a combination of formal and informal assessments to monitor each student’s progress and guide instruction. From the very first session, I begin with baseline assessments to identify strengths, learning gaps, and instructional needs. These assessments help me create a customized learning plan that is targeted and data-driven.
To track progress, I use:
- ✅ Initial diagnostics to pinpoint skill levels in reading, writing, and math
- 📝 Ongoing formative assessments, such as observation, student work, running records, and oral responses
- 📈 Progress monitoring tools to regularly evaluate growth in specific skill areas
- 📚 Check-ins during sessions to review understanding and adjust instruction as needed
- 🔁 Frequent review and spiral practice to strengthen retention and mastery
- 🗂️ Individualized student folders or notes to document achievements and next steps
I also use the “I do, we do, you do” gradual release model, which helps me evaluate how confidently a student can apply a new concept independently.
Communication is key—I keep parents informed and involved by sharing progress updates and celebrating milestones. My goal is to ensure every student feels supported, challenged, and proud of their growth.
If you're looking for personalized, effective tutoring for your child—or for yourself—I’d love to help!
