How much tutoring does my middle schooler need?

Developing an individualized plan based on learning gaps can be done by a professional learning coach. With 30 years teaching experience and tutoring for over a decade I would be willing to help assess and tutor your child. Many times students have things they did not learn in previous grades that are holding them back from being successful in their current grade. Determining these learning gaps and remediating them can be very helpful. Most people choose to close this learning gap quickly over summers by doing intense work between grade levels. For example they might come 2 to 3 times a week for much of the summer. They also will continue to have tutoring homework help in school year. You need to look at your family budget and the time available to determine what is a good fit for your child. I develop personalized plans based on student specific needs. It depends on the student. Most begin with one or two sessions per week, lasting 30 to 60 minutes. Some are catching up. Some are coasting and need a push. Some are racing ahead and want to strengthen vocabulary or essay skills.

The key is consistency over time. In most cases, real progress takes 6 to 12 weeks of steady effort, especially for test prep, reading fluency, or writing confidence.
