I’d have to say probably not. Race, gender, religion, etc are not statistics I feel a university or college needs to be asking on an initial application. The reason behind admitting a student on academic merits is, at its most base definition, so that collegiate education won’t be unnecessarily rigorous.
More advanced reasoning might state that admissions see good high school grades = good college grades = good career = future donations to the university = nicer facilities and pay raises.
Main point being that I wouldn’t accept admission for myself based on minority status.
