Japan has absolute advantages in technology, a high level of education and a high standard of living. School is a serious venture for students and includes Saturday mornings. Many families engage tutors to make sure their students excel, not just pass a subject. Japanese people are community oriented and not individually oriented. They typically act for the greater good of their society, not for themselves. The work ethic is Japan is very strong. Retirement is usually at age 60 and people live well into their 90's due to the fat-free, mostly fish and vegetable related, diet. Japnese people are inherently polite, well-informed on world issues and value their family, their community and their society. I lived in Japan for two years during my college years when my family was assigned to the American Consulate in Kobe.06/12/21
