Hi Sesan. From what you've provided, I believe this is a question related to climate change. The earth's overall temperature is rising, and to prevent determential and possibly irreversible effects, scientists say that we need to prevent it from rising by 2 degrees Celisus by a certain year. I believe that year is somewhere between 2025 and 2035. However, your instructor may be saying 2100 as the year in this question. If the temperature continues to rise, permafrost, which contains a significant amount of carbon, could melt. Water levels will continue to rise, submerging low lying land. Weather occurrences such as spontaneous forest fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, etc. can be more frequent and last longer due to changes in wind and water currents and rising temperatures.
One main way to prevent this from happening is by decreasing carbon emissions. Societies can do this by switching to renewable energy. Factories/buisness can be required to reduce carbon emissions by setting a limit and to switch over to renewable energy, which can be executed through incentives or consequences. We can work on preventing deforestation since trees and other vegetation filter carbon out of the air and by encouraging free ranging herds of cow instead of putting them in fences. Those are only a few ways of reducing carbon emmisions.
I noticed one of your tags for related subject areas includes microbiology, so I am uncertain if you are needing to approach the solution from an ecology/environmental science standpoint or microbiology standpoint. There are micro solutions as well. One is utilizing certain microbes that, if I remember correctly, can help with reducing carbon emmisions from vehicles. I do not remember the process, but it would be something to look up if you're interested or need a micro solution.
I hope this helps answer your question!
