Hi Juliana! In most academic writing, you want to avoid writing in the first person. BUT, if your teacher is asking for your opinion, this means that your answer should include some "I" statements!
How did the first chapter of The Pearl make you feel? Did you like the style of writing? Was there a character that you related to? Did you learn something new about the world? Did a particular theme resonate with you? Was there a quote that you felt connected to, based on a personal experience? Your opinion of the chapter may be positive or negative, and you can use some of these guiding questions to explain why you enjoyed (or perhaps disagreed with) the text.
If a teacher asks for "specific examples," this usually means that they want you to include (and properly cite) direct quotes from the book.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.
