To differentiate between supply and selection types, think about what the names themselves imply. For supply type, one must produce or "supply" the answer entirely of their own knowledge. There are no options to choose from and you must write out a response from your own mind.
But, for the selection type, all one needs to do is choose, or "select", the right answer. In the case of multiple choice, there are a few possible answers listed and you must solely recognize and select the correct one from that list.
