What are your favorite books for junior readers?

What are the best books to use this summer for homeschooling the junior (beginning) reader?

I really like the Level Readers that have come out in the last few years. For example, Pete The Cat, shows a Level 1 for their I Can Read series. These books are fun and just right for the beginning reader. It is easy for Mom or Dad to then progress up the series with Level 2, 3 and so on as their student improves in reading ability. Clifford the Big Dog series is always fun, Amelia Bedelia and Cat in the Hat. Also, Fly Guy is an all time favorite, especially with boys.
