I believe that "Storm the gates" comes from the French Revolution where the underclass literally attacked the (gated) buildings occupied by those in power. Of course, other countries have had the ruling class up-ended by the underclasses. These revolutions are problematic in that the underclass knows its (usually well placed) dissatisfaction and hatred of the government and the rulers, but has no plan to operate a government once the ruling class has been eliminated. The current situation in Libya is an example of this.
In the United States, it has been a point of pride that power changes are orderly and in compliance with the Constitution.
Donald Trump has a great proclivity for inciting people to violence and demanding change, but rarely puts forth any practical solution to the issues that caused the dissatisfaction.
