From Sage confidently learn to read for meaning and much much more
Consider writing in your own words the main idea of each paragraph or several of the paragraphs on the left side of a blank sheet of paper.
On the right side next to each main idea concisely write in your own words some of the details related to each main idea.
Then look at both and ask yourself if the details and the main idea make a good fit. If you do that for a while you should find your ability to connect main ideas of a reading with the details in the reading.
