Jiya,
This is a fairly good use of a number line.
please draw a number line that goes from 0 to 13.
You can pick a pair of numbers that add up to 13 by simply pointing at any number in the line.
So
(a) pick a number
(b) subtract it from 13
(C) if the difference is less than 11, move to the left
you should be able to find a pair of numbers that have a difference of 11.

BS in Mathematics with 5+ years of tutoring experience
let x and y be the two numbers
then we have the equations
x + y = 13
x - y = 11
this is a system of equations that we can solve
solve the bottom equation for x
x - y = 11
x = y + 11
plug this into the top equation and solve for y
x + y = 13
(y + 11) + y = 13
2y + 11 = 13
2y = 2
y = 1
plug y into the bottom equation
x - y = 11
x - 1 = 11
x = 12
the two numbers are 1 and 12
