I have read a definition about "personal data" in an ISO/IEC document which states> Details of the personal or material circumstances of an identified or identifiable natural person.I don't understand that. Can some one explain that? What does **material circumstances** mean here?

The word "material" has two meanings. The first one refers to that which is tangible or acessible to the five senses, sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch. This definition is not applicable

The meaning of material in the subject sentence pertains to "circumstances" which are important, significant, relevant, or essential to whatever is being examined about the "identifiable, natural person."
