When writing on paper, how do you move things about?

I am amazed thinking how people used to write before the computer ever came about. Before that, everyone was forced to write on paper. I'd very much like to write on paper but my ideas come in a random order and I'd like to be able to re-organize sentences into paragraphs, dissect paragraphs and move things about after I've got all my ideas written out.When writing on paper, how can I cope with the randomness of the order in which ideas appear in my mind?

Hi! So theres quite a few helpful "tricks" you can use! Including, different colored pens while note taking (when the teacher switches subjects but then does back to original= you could decide Blue is for X, Red is for Y, Purple is for Z: So you're currently using blue, subject switch to Red, but then back again to Blue) You can also use bullet journaling techniques and just mark a specific Symbol by each topic etc. And of course always highlighters! (Different colors of course!) This would work best AFTER all notes are made and you read back over. Simply highlight similar topics/categories in same color!

Hello! Writing on paper helps me be more creative sometimes, and I had the same issue. One thing that helped me is to write a number next to each paragraph (in the indent or margin) based on the order of my paragraphs. That way, I use the order of the numbers and not the randomness. Sometimes our creative ideas come randomly, so using sequential numbers is a good way to have an order or a "path" for your ideas to follow.
