My teaching methods are rooted in a structured, research-based approach—especially effective for students in PreK through 3rd grade. I use a structured literacy program designed for students with dyslexia, but it’s also highly effective for any child who needs extra support in reading, spelling, or foundational language skills.
The program I use is systematic, explicit, and multi-sensory, and it focuses on one spelling pattern at a time so students can build deep, lasting understanding without feeling overwhelmed. Each lesson includes:
- Oral language work
- Alphabet and phonics instruction
- Cursive handwriting (which offers benefits in memory, coordination, and reading fluency)
- Reading and spelling practice
- Language application through writing and conversation
I also place a strong emphasis on manipulatives and hands-on learning, especially in math and early literacy. Using tools like coins, buttons, or letter tiles helps students connect abstract concepts to real-world understanding. And when it comes to math, I believe in making learning fun and visual—through games, real-life applications, and confidence-building repetition.
Above all, I meet students where they are. I tailor instruction to their learning style, pace, and strengths, and I work hard to build trust, engagement, and a love for learning. My goal is always to help students feel successful, capable, and ready for the next step.
Honestly, I’m new to online tutoring, but I bring years of in-person teaching experience and a strong understanding of how to adapt lessons to each student’s needs. I’m confident in my ability to make virtual learning effective and engaging. I am anxious to work with your child!
