It is important to understand a student's individual needs and work with their strengths, interests and preferences. An interview discussion can help identify this prior to lesson delivery.

My teaching methods are rooted in a structured, research-based approach—especially effective for students in PreK through 3rd grade. I use a structured literacy program designed for students with dyslexia, but it’s also highly effective for any child who needs extra support in reading, spelling, or foundational language skills.
The program I use is systematic, explicit, and multi-sensory, and it focuses on one spelling pattern at a time so students can build deep, lasting understanding without feeling overwhelmed. Each lesson includes:
- Oral language work
- Alphabet and phonics instruction
- Cursive handwriting (which offers benefits in memory, coordination, and reading fluency)
- Reading and spelling practice
- Language application through writing and conversation
I also place a strong emphasis on manipulatives and hands-on learning, especially in math and early literacy. Using tools like coins, buttons, or letter tiles helps students connect abstract concepts to real-world understanding. And when it comes to math, I believe in making learning fun and visual—through games, real-life applications, and confidence-building repetition.
Above all, I meet students where they are. I tailor instruction to their learning style, pace, and strengths, and I work hard to build trust, engagement, and a love for learning. My goal is always to help students feel successful, capable, and ready for the next step.
Honestly, I’m new to online tutoring, but I bring years of in-person teaching experience and a strong understanding of how to adapt lessons to each student’s needs. I’m confident in my ability to make virtual learning effective and engaging. I am anxious to work with your child!

My teaching/tutoring method.
- Understand students' needs.
- Access the current level of understanding and learning style.
- Create tailored lesson plans, activities, and worksheets for students.
- Work through problems with the student, then have the student attempt on their own.
- Continue to monitor and evaluate student understanding, and alter lessons as needed.
- Promote good note-taking and study habits.
- Prompt the family to continue to help the student outside of the classroom or tutoring lessons. Such as doing math at a grocery store.
- Provide a safe , compassionate, and fun environment for student to learn.

🧠 What are your teaching methods?
My teaching methods are research-based, structured, and individualized to meet the unique needs of each student. I use a variety of effective strategies that align with the Science of Reading and Writing as well as evidence-based math instruction. I begin by using assessments to identify a student’s current abilities, learning gaps, and strengths. This data helps guide a targeted, personalized learning plan.
Key methods I use include:
- 🎯 Explicit, direct instruction in reading, writing, and math to ensure clear understanding
- 🧠 Multisensory strategies that engage visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning—ideal for students with dyslexia or learning differences
- ✍️ Structured literacy and writing instruction that builds foundational skills and language development
- 🔢 Hands-on, visual math teaching that supports conceptual understanding and problem-solving
- 🌍 Language support for ESL learners, including vocabulary development, grammar practice, and conversation skills
- 📘 Homework support combined with skill reinforcement to connect schoolwork to lasting understanding
- 🔄 Gradual release of responsibility using the “I do, we do, you do” model, helping students gain independence and confidence step by step
All of my lessons are designed to be engaging, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate, using games, manipulatives, visuals, and real-world examples to keep students motivated and involved in the learning process.

First, I always explain and demonstrate how the work is to be completed. Next, the student and I will practice the activity together provided step-by-step guidance. Then, I have the student practice the activity independently to determine understanding and comprehension. Finally, there is a final review and assessment of completed work.
