Sight Words vs Phonics Lessons Which Method is Better?
Sight words are considered easier for children to learn because they provide meaning and context, but phonics is considered better for teaching children to sound out sight words. Phonics is better at teaching kids to read. Kids who learn with sight words lists alone have a hard time decoding new words and struggle with more difficult reading materials.

The best bet is first determining if your child is more of a visual learner or auditory learner.
Visual learners will grasp sight words quickly; deaf/mute students only have sight words as a choice in learning, and it works very well for them.
Auditory learners can pick up sounds and make associations with the words on the page; the association makes it easy for them to grasp the concepts while reading aloud, but it can make it more difficult for them if they need to read silently.
But for most students, a hybrid approach works the best, because it forces the child to use more of their senses and brain when using both methods.
