My Son Takes Forever to Read

When my son reads he pauses in between words, it's driving me nuts! How can I get him to read better?

How long do you mean? Your son needs the proper scaffolding and support. Consider your goals for him and his mental state. There are many options, but we need more information.

Consider using the Neurological Impress Method. Sit next to your child and read with him at the same time. It's okay, if he is not exactly reading at the same pace. His fluency will follow. There are other things you may need to do to make sure he isn't just repeating what you say. For example, pause and see if he is able to read the next word. Don't make the word a difficult one. His vocabulary and confidence will improve as well. If this is done twice a week for six weeks, you will be amazed at the improvement. He will learn far less he is worked with only once a week for twelve weeks.
