As a graduate of DePaul University's film program as well as a produced-screenwriter, I would help you break down the basics of script writing - from understanding specific plot points writing out potential loglines and writing and completing your own screenplay!

Hi - While a lot of people holding themselves out as expert screenwriters because they have a film degree or once made a short film in college, I'm the guy who's been teaching them. My background includes 25 years writing and producing prime time network television and award nominations for Best TV Movie or Miniseries of the Year and Best One-Hour TV Episode of the Year from both the Writers Guild of America and the Mystery Writers of America. I've been teaching screenwriting at major universities for the past 20 years, including UCLA, NYU and for 17 years now at Chapman University.

With that background I help aspiring and professional screenwriters by responding to their scripts with specific notes about what is working and what isn't working and WHY. Beyond structure and character and dialog, a good script must move the reader/audience, elicit an emotional reaction, make you feel something. That is paramount.

I provide 1-on-1 guidance and coaching on the overall creative process of composing screenplays as well as general fiction and non-fiction. I help the client break down his/her project to its core structure and foundational elements before expanding to more specific micro components, e.g. scenes, dialogue, character, or in non-fiction, evidentiary presentation and point-of-view. I have been a working screenwriter for over 20 years, having had numerous script sales, with multiple projects now in development.
