ship begins with the sound SHHHHHH like you are telling someone to be quiet. The I is a short vowel like most frequently found in the sight words it, in, him, rip, tip. Chip begins with the phonetical sound CH like a sound a train makes CHOO CHOO or like in chicken or church. The I is again a short vowel found in the same words as ship. Other words with the same vowel sounds are hit, six, fit. Cheap has the same beginning as chip (remember CHOO CHOO) the vowel combo ea is a long E sound found in words like each, teach, meat. The last sound is P. like in put, peach, pop. Put your lips together and push air through them.
