Important characteristics for a tutor are intelligence, flexibility, empathy, and an enthusiasm for helping people.

For me, a tutor should be trustworthy, professional, assertive, friendly, real, genuine, honest, patience, understanding, empathetic, knowledgeable, resourceful, encouraging, and challenging but not too challenging because then might be too stressful for the student unless they ask for it lol.
