I’ll give you a paragraph so you can get the idea. It’s not so hard. The trick is, first, making sure you understand the meaning of all the words and how they are used. Then you just need to play around with them, try putting them together in various sentences, and see what you can come up with. Here’s my paragraph:

“There was no doubt that the cult’s adroit leader possessed an impressive charisma and eloquence. To elucidate this point: every adherent to that clique of followers ultimately became a blatant sycophant who could only extol the virtues and never denounce the shortcomings of their messiah. Each would, finally, become a pathetic parody of their former volition. The hidden implication of the pungent and rotten materialism that lay just beneath the gregarious demeanor the man always made sure to nurture did nothing to slow the impunity with which he was willing to raze the personhood of those who compulsively needed someone to lead them.“

My advice would be to follow these steps:

1) Look up the definitions for each of these words and paste them into a document.

2) Rewrite the definitions in your own words and/or think of an example.

3) Look for similarities or common themes between the words.

4) Use the similarities as a springboard for short story ideas.

I'll give you an example with two of the words.

First word: "adherent"

Step 1: I go to Google and search "define adherent". The first definition that comes up is: "noun

1. someone who supports a particular party, person, or set of ideas."

Step 2: I put it in my own words. Hmmm. I would say "a person who is really devoted to a specific thing or person". I think of an extremely devoted fan of a musician, for example.

Second word: "charisma"

Step 1: "noun

2. compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others."

Step 2: "a powerful beauty or interestingness that makes people crazy about you or really inspired by you."

Step 3: Already, I see some similarities between these two words. An "adherent" could be really drawn to someone with "charisma." My example of a music fan could work.

Step 4: I've already got an idea going for a short story about a devoted music fan who meets their idol.
