As with any paper or writing assignment, there is a certain formula that can be used to create excellent work that really gets the point across to your target audience. If I were to approach this assignment, I would:

1. Read your instructions carefully to determine who you are writing for (your target audience) and how the paper should be written (take into consideration your grade level and whether your instructor is asking for a formal paper in a particular format or something more informal). This will give you an idea of if its alright to use informal language (like first or second person) or if you need to use formal language (third person).
2. Brainstorm the topic. Grab a sheet of paper or pull up a document and free write for 5-10 minutes on anything that comes to mind about your topic. It doesn't have to be pretty, grammatically correct, or in any particular order. Just get your juices flowing about the assignment.
3. Gather any sources you may need for the assignment to reinforce your argument/perspective. If you're writing something that requires information that doesn't come from your own brain, you're going to need books, journals, articles, websites, etc. to emphasize your point. However, this requires knowledge of how to properly cite sources both in-text and in a reference section. Ask a credible source for help if you're unsure, or check out https://owl.purdue.edu/.
4. Create an outline that addresses each section. For a 1-2 paragraph assignment, I would label each idea, and then write out short, specific examples and/or use sources to reinforce each idea. If you're writing two paragraphs for this particular topic, I would use the first paragraph to describe your experiences with the first part of the quote (things you've learned from others and books), and then use the second paragraph to describe your experiences with the second part of the quote (things you see/feel/etc.). To be safe, I would hit 5 points for each section so you have at least 5 sentences per paragraph (depending on if there are word count requirements). Feel free to use this medium to play around with organization and structure to make sure that things flow smoothly. Also, make sure your outline addresses each concept required by your instructor.
5. Create your rough draft. Use your outline to address each point and elaborate. Also make sure to use topic sentences to inform the reader about what the paragraph is going to cover. This doesn't have to be perfect, but it will get all of your ideas down on paper. Make sure to use full, well thought out sentences in this section.
6. Proofread your rough draft. Check for overt spelling and grammar mistakes, run-on sentences, and overall readability. Then get an experienced set of eyes (your instructor, a tutor, or anyone with writing experience) to take a look and give feedback.
7. After your have completed your rough draft and have received feedback, prepare your final draft. Incorporate any changes or feedback into your final draft so that you have a polished work. Have experienced eyes check your work one more time (if available) before you submit it.
