Hello!
I am not sure what you're studying or how you are measuring racial progress.
First, decide how you are measuring progress. For instance, let's say you're looking at the amount of Indigenous and non-white members of Canada's federal Government.
Look up the demographics from 10 years ago and compare them to now.
Maybe you're looking at the wage disparity between white and non-white/indigenous peoples. Look at the wage gap 10 years ago versus now.
Other potential measures:
- home ownership
- business ownership
- mixed neighborhoods/percentages of non-white or indigenous people in neighborhoods
- home values
- CEO positions and entrepreneurs or small business owners
You could choose several of these factors as well.
Or, maybe look at legislation that protects minority groups rather than prohibits them from voting, getting work, or buying homes. Look carefully, because these will be hidden in language like "safe neighborhoods" or "voter fraud" or words that look patriotic like "Canada first" or something (not real examples).
Look at who is getting internships in big companies and government agencies. Who is getting into the best colleges? Who is getting scholarships? Are "legacy" students getting priority over other candidates?
What did you learn in class about this?
Good luck! Let me know if you need more help.

Oh, I'm sorry. For some reason I just got this in my e-mail, but you asked the question months ago! How did the assignment go? Would my answer have helped at all?04/19/22
