Have you taught classes online before?

Question

Yes, since I graduated close to a year ago I have been conducting sessions online, and have found what works best for me when teaching students subject material. Of course, depending on the material these methods and techniques defer; nevertheless, I have been enjoying learning new ways to teach efficiently as every student is different.

Because of COVID most teachers have acquired online teaching experience.

I began teaching students online before it became such a necessity as a corporate trainer. More recently I have taught Creative Writing to students grades 6 - 8th; Cartooning to students grades 3 -5; and Creative Writing to adults. Once COVID is officially over I expect to be teaching and tutoring online as well as in the classroom. For the committed, interested student online instruction can be an amazing and effective method of communication.

In the fall semester of the 2020-2021 school year, I taught a Writing for College course to senior students at my high school. The course was mainly remote, so I used Google Meets to conduct my classes. This worked well because I could schedule individual meets with each of my students both during class time and during outside planning time to hold writing conferences. The remote setting also lent itself to more written communication between my students and me. This helped them hone their non-formal communication skills, as well as enforcing the need to advocate for themselves. For this class, in particular, this setup for remote learning worked very well.
