asked 02/12/21Which answer choice provides an accurate and objective summary
Brynjar Karl Birgisson built a scale model of the Titanic using an absurd number of Lego bricks. He was lucky that the company gave him a discount on many pieces he needed to finish the project. The ship will be displayed in Tennessee where the teen lives.
Brynjar Karl Birgisson has had trouble communicating because of his autism most of his life. His grandfather began working with him on a project to build the Titanic out of Legos to help him. His grandfather has given TED Talks about the project.
Brynjar Karl Birgisson has had autism for his entire life but he refuses to let it define him. The admirable and creative teen has created a scale Titanic out of Lego bricks. His mother hopes he will talk to other autistic teens about his experience.
Brynjar Karl Birgisson built a scale model of the Titanic using thousands of Lego bricks. Working on the project gave him the confidence to communicate with others and travel. His mother hopes his story will be an example for other parents of autistic children.

The third option (C) is best. In the first sentence it captures the main idea which is supporting by the following sentences. A summary doesn't have to be objective. It has to capture the main ideas and key points of the source, which may not be objective. If this is the case, the summary need not be objective either.
(A) makes no mention of what appears to be key to the story which is that this young man is autistic. It gets distracted by less relevant details like the discount on Legos.
(B) makes the summary more about the grandfather, while I suspect the original text was primarily about the young man, Brynjar Karl Birgisson.
(D) is confusing because you don't learn about his autism until the final sentence so you then have to go back and connect the dots to how the prior sentences might be related to his autism. Good summaries are clear from the beginning and don't need to be retraced.

It's either B or D. I don't have the article on which it is based, so I can't say which one is more accurate. However, you can rule out A and C because they are not objective.
On A, right when you hit the word "absurd," you can rule that out. Absurd is a judgement call. Personally, I think any amount of Legos is absurd, because if there is even one, I know I'm going to step on it. My nephew would say no amount of Legos is absurd; he loves those things.
On C, saying that he doesn't let Autism define him is speculation, therefore not objectively accurate. The writer is putting words into his mouth and thoughts into his head and then drawing conclusions. Which is fine. Writers do that all the time, but that doesn't make it objectively accurate.
In order to choose between B and D, answer this question. Is the article about Brynjar Karl Birgisson or his grandfather? I am assuming it's about Brynjar Karl Birgisson because he is named and his grandfather is not. In which case the answer is D. If my assumption is incorrect and it is more about what his grandfather did, then the answer is B.
Good luck.
