@Jenny O., is it possible for it to be a hyperbole as well? The definition of a hyperbole is “ exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.”

It definitely could be a mix of both! My thought process was that the dad in the poem was driving on a road which was metaphorically referred to as a "dream".

However, I definitely agree that the statement is exaggerated, yet he is "driving" in his sleep so I assumed that this was more of a literal statement in that sense
