Today there are those who believe in climate change and those who don't believe in climate change.
Myself, I believe in Climate Change, I took an Environmental Science class in university. so let me share with you what I learned.
- Carbon Dioxide, one of the "greenhouse gases" contributes to the increase of the air temperature on the earth.
- After 1880, the earth has seen the constant rise of the air temperature (expert people use the term "atmospheric temperature). Why 1880? Scientists say that was when the England's industrial revolution started, when the output of carbon dioxide increased suddenly in history.
- Effects: Rising air temperature, rising ocean temperature, melting of glaciers on the north and south poles, shift in climate due to the change in water and temperature balance on the earth.
What you see as a result of the shift in climate are;
- topical rain
- sudden gust in the air
- increase of water temperature (inside the ocean things change as well)
- melting of glacier ice
- rising of water levels, inundating earth's surfaces
- once you see the ice on polar caps starting to melt, this process accelerates in speed, and it will never end till the entire ice melts.
And do you know what you will see left on the earth after all the ice melts on both polar caps?
The very peak end of Mt. Everest.
**** To add to these, let me add "other" greenhouse gases that increase the temperature of the earth other than Carbon Dioxide.
- human-produced trash, garbage, and landfills, that contain metal: when they get reaction with water and CO2, it creates heat. So, recycling is necessary to avoid creating this heat in temperature.
- trash is everywhere, even in the ocean. So, the ocean has to be trash-free.
- No dumping of industrial waste in to the ocean. Those contain chemicals that increases water temperature as well.
- Change in eco-system in the ocean affects the lives in the ocean as well. If you eat fish, you will see some changes in what you eat seasonally, because when the ocean temperature rises due to global warming, fish move as well.
One thing I missed to say was that how the ocean temperature rises after polar ices melt.
When the Arctic and Antarctic ice melts, the temperature of the ocean rises.
How this happens is that when you have more water in the ocean, when the sun is shining, naturally the once-cold water becomes rather lukewarm, right?
And when the rather lukewarm water is around the north and south polar ice, the water will melt the ice. So, the warm ocean water does melt the polar ices.
So, to solve the Climate Change, tackling air pollution as well as ocean and land pollution becomes necessary.
As an individual, what you can do most is recycling.
I'm sorry if it was difficult to follow me.
