Reviewing past lessons is so important! It provides the reinforcement to ensure the student has learned the key elements of a topic. First, it is important to ask the student what they recall about the topic before launching into your own review. This allows the student to be part of the review and it helps you to assess your teaching and their learning. Next, if the student does not include key elements to previous lessons, then that is when you can "nudge" them about the specific information on the topic. And, finally, have them summarize the review and discuss mnemonic devices that will help them remember the review
