Latin Americans make up 75 percent of all undocumented immigrants to the U.S. The other 25 percent of undocumented immigrants hail primarily from Asia. Why do you think that this significant proportion of the undocumented population that is not Latin American is generally ignored by the media and politicians?

I believe this is because of the model minority myth. There is this idea that those of the Asian population are the model minority, and that has been perpetuated among all types of media. However, if the image of immigrants as being bad and a burden on society is the prominent one being disseminated at the current moment, it would clash with the already established “model minority” myth that was already set in place. This might be one of the reasons, as politics and media are very intertwined in terms of using image to push agendas.
