Hi!
There is not one correct answer to your question, but I can give you some tips that may be helpful in getting a high score on the Reading section of the SAT:
-Read the questions first, and then read the passage looking for specific information. A lot of people say this, but I think it's a seriously helpful method! If you already have an idea of the answers you're looking for, it will make the reading process a lot quicker and more efficient.
-Practice skimming text. I personally have a lot of trouble skimming because I tend to either read too deeply and not really skim, or I go too fast and don't get any information from the text. For the most part, good skimming is going to be your best friend in the SAT. You won't always have time to read the entire passage deeply and with detail, and skimming, especially when you already know the questions, is necessary to get the questions answered correctly and quickly. You can practice this with various lengths of texts, skimming a passage as quickly as you can, then pausing to write down a summary of what you read, key points, and important details. This is a good way to test and build up your skimming abilities.
-Learn how to manage stress. Even if you don't usually have testing anxiety, the SAT can be pretty stressful. There's a time limit, lots of questions to answer, and a lot of pressure to get a high score. Do some practice exercises and time yourself so you can get used to working under pressure, and make sure that when you get to the actual text, you go into it with the right mindset. Eat breakfast, drink water, get some sleep before, and make sure to have some helpful stress management exercises under your belt. Something as simple as taking three deep breaths, or even breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth, can be super helpful when you start to feel overwhelmed.
Hope that helps!
