Why don't you write a paragraph about the corona virus epidemic. I can't write your paragraph, but here's some suggestions for uses with the words.

The epidemic's effect on businesses was unprecedented.

The CDC unveiled multiple scientific studies working toward the cure.

The world leaders acted, but there was no unilateral decision on how the people would respond.

Each head of government tried to underscore the importance of the economy, but the people wanted simple action, unadorned with mouthy promises.

Come up with a topic sentence. Reword as wanted. Add a closing reinforcing your opening and

your paragraph is complete.

Just to give you an idea, how about something about the current health situation. Here's a little to get you started:

This viral outbreak is unprecedented in modern times, and has served to unveil some of the shortcomings of our society and it's political response. A strong, unilateral decision needs to be made to shutdown the economy and social movement to help stop the further spread of the disease...

"Underscore" is to highlight or emphasize something.

"Unadorned" is something without covering or extra material.

Hi Cari,

The best way to start off your story is to think up of individual sentences you can use for each sentence. All of your words for this week use the prefix "un-", which means "not". With that in mind, let's define each of your words!

1. unadorned: un +adorned. Un= not. Adorned= to be clothed, usually with something nice. Unadorned (adj) to not look fancy, to not have anything special on. The Christmas tree remained unadorned, without any lights or ornaments.
2. underscore: *This one you can break up differently. under + score. Under= below, score= to rate, a rating. Underscore (v): to score below normal. I would underscore the falafel at the restaurant because it was too dry.
3. unilateral: uni + lateral. Uni= one. Lateral= in a horizontal, side to side way; on the same plane or page, all in agreement. Unilateral (adj): one swift decision that everyone agrees upon. The unilateral passing of the coronacvirus bill in Congress was appreciated by the American public.
4. Unprecedented: un+ precedented. Un= not, precedented= happened before and set a standard. Unprecedented (adj): something that has no prior standard, something that has never happened before. The coronavirus pandemic is an unprecdented event in global history, save for plagues like the tuberculosis outbreak and the Black Plague.
5. Unveil: un+veil. Un= not, veil= mask, hide. Unveil (v): to reveal, make known. When the time came to unveil the number of new coronavirus cases, the public was eagerly waiting the task forces' response.

With these example sentences, you can have a basis to start forming your own story (i made a few related sentences about the coronavirus, but perhaps you can pick something less morbid).
