asked 04/02/20Art History: humanism in art renaissance painting
hi so I really need help with my paper I'm trying to figure out what makes both Petrarch "The Ascent to Mount Ventoux"letter and. Biagio d'Antonio "The Story Of Jospeh"painting have in a humanistic point of view? and what relationship do they both have in with humans and nature? if anyone can help please.
This is what my professor was asking which confused me.
1) Identify and characterize the relationship between humans and nature as is evidenced in both the reading and the chosen artwork.
2) Identify how both the reading and the artwork express a humanist point of view

I am not an expert in art history. However, I can try to point you in the right direction based off of the questions.
For number one, I would specifically state what the relationship is between the humans and nature as it is in the reading and the art. I would also characterize it as he wants you to do so. (I am not familiar as to how he wants you to characterize this. However, once you describe it, you should be able to fit it into a certain category.)
For number two, I would look up humanist point of view from your reading materials in class. I would define it in your paper. Then I would state how the art work and the reading express a humanistic point of view. In other words, give evidence why the work and reading express the humanistic point of view (i.e., this piece of artwork express the humanistic point of view because.....).
I hope that is helpful despite the fact that art history is not my strongest subject :)
