Good question! As a lifelong student and a recent student myself, I still know very well how this conundrum feels. Here are my tips:
- Start off by skimming the entire chapter, looking at the section titles (8.1 Electrochemistry) and the sub-section titles (8.1.1 Nernst Equation)
- Look at the Chapter Summary and the Introduction to the Chapter
- You may have heard this many times, but read a little each day rather than reading it all in one day
- Quiz yourself or try to recite whatever it is you just read. If you're not satisfied or feel like you're using placeholders such as "it" and "thing" too much, then skim the section again and fill in the gaps you had the previous time you tried to explain the concept.
