When you are supporting your point of view, opinion or claim, using quotes from the book, you must do the following:
-Begin the sentence with phrases such as, In the book, The book states,ect. Then the words taken directly from the book, must be in quotation marks. Here is an example.
In the book Mark states, "I am most happy, when I am alone and in quiet." This is how it is done on lower grade levels. For high-school and college level, it is done in a specific format such as MLA or APA which is chosen by your teacher or professor.
