This is an excellent question! I am not a scientist but there are studies that show you're not the only one having this experience. Here is my two cents on the matter:
When you are reading something on the Internet, it's really easy to gloss over details because you can simply scroll down and because it can seem like a wall of text. When you are reading a book, the text is better spaced, which makes it easier on your eyes. There is also the bit where you have to physically turn the page to keep reading a book, which means you are fully engaged with it. Lastly, screens give off harsh blue light that your eyes are less than fond of while books are made of natural paper, which is easy on your eyes.
