To do well on the GRE you need a thorough understanding of the components of literature. You need to be able to write in clear sentences which form paragraphs. You should be able to write an essay knowing the structure of one. You should be able to read and analyze an excerpt and write your answers. Also you should be able to answer multiple choice questions about high school literature that is required reading. Also you need to have knowledge of grammar and spelling. You should know all the parts of speech: nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns, connecting words, prepositions and adverbs. Also you need to be able to outline and use graphic organizers to organize information.
