Term to describe the fact of using art to push ideology?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there is a term to describe/qualify the fact of using art (literature, cinema…) and/or a specific medium to push ideology? For example, someone who would defend the idea that “movies are violent” and use only examples of genuinely violent movies to defend or push this idea, knowingly ignoring all the non-violent movies? Is there a precise/academic term for that behavior/action?

I believe the term you may be looking for is "biased". Being biased, a person would only use the studies or examples that support the conclusion they are looking for. The definition for biased, according to Lexico, (see the link at: https://www.lexico.com/en/definition/biased ) is "unfairly prejudiced for or against someone or something." The example sentence they give is right up your alley. Check it out!

If "biased" doesn't feel like a good fit for you, try researching synonyms for it in a thesaurus. You can find one online or in a library if you don't have a hard copy.
