I believe the term you may be looking for is "biased". Being biased, a person would only use the studies or examples that support the conclusion they are looking for. The definition for biased, according to Lexico, (see the link at: https://www.lexico.com/en/definition/biased ) is "unfairly prejudiced for or against someone or something." The example sentence they give is right up your alley. Check it out!
If "biased" doesn't feel like a good fit for you, try researching synonyms for it in a thesaurus. You can find one online or in a library if you don't have a hard copy.
