Humanistic relates to the philosophy of humanism. Any church would hardly be an example of "humanistic expression" perfect or otherwise. If, as I suspect, you mean "human expression", where does the assertion that a gothic cathedral is a perfect example of it come from? I guess it would be fair to say that since a cathedral takes so long to build (hundreds of years in some cases) that it is a unique example of human committment to expression.
