What factors contributed to the U.S economy flourishing during the early cold war period?

Wars, cold or otherwise, are bad for economies, right? So why did the American economy flourish during the early Cold War period (shortly after World War II)? Could anyone help me identify some contributing factors?

the post war boom, There, were more factories producing automobiles and servicemen got jobs in the auto industry. other corporations being built, more corporations and conglomerates, more people joining the workforce. With more jobs, there was an enlarged middle class and , therefore it became easier to get mortgages, so home -ownership and the building of homes themselves, improved the economy. WE were moving to a more service economy.
