Why we don't use "TV" before "miniseries"?

In my experience, TV miniseries is a correct phrase, but in a way it's sort of redundant. The word series literally means "a number of things, events or people, etc. of a similar nature coming one after another." In TV, the word series implies that there are multiple (or were originally intended to be multiple) seasons. There can be theatrical "series" - think of Harry Potter or the Lord of the Rings - though the word franchise for Harry Potter (or Marvel or Star Wars) and trilogy for Lord of the Rings would probably be more commonly used. The word miniseries means that there is only season and so it wouldn't really make sense to use it for theatrical releases, considering it's a different release format than TV. Though I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel started using a similar term for their smaller properties (like mini-franchise maybe?).
